Fun Little Halloween Aprons

http://www.etsy.com/listing/83556570/halloween-childrens-apron-set-apron-chef

Halloween is soon approaching, and I decided to add a few new items to my shop.  Halloween was always fun for me when the kids were growing up.  Being on a very tight budget with 6 children made me use my creative side to the max.  Making your own costumes is so much fun, and so much more original then purchasing them from the store.  I have made alot of witch hats in my life that's for sure!  I will share tomorrow how I would make pajamas out of footie pajamas.  Now wouldn't a little chef for Halloween be adorable?  Please follow the links to learn more about the pictures posted on my etsy shop.

Acorn Dough Nuts

I'm really excited to share some fun recipes and ideas that will be easy for children to make, that do not involve hot stoves and dangerous equipment.  Since I make children's aprons, I want your children to have a chance to use them,  quick simple snacks, treats, that will make them feel proud of what they made.  I am anxious to try some of these when my grandchildren come to my house!  This cute recipe for Acorn Dough Nuts came from the Family Fun Website.

Ingredients
  • Chocolate Frosting or Peanut Butter
  • Donuts
  • Crumbled Toffee
  • Pretzel
X

Instructions
  1. Frost a third or so of a plain or glazed doughnut hole with chocolate frosting or peanut butter.
  2. Roll the frosted top in crumbled toffee (look for it in the baking section of grocery stores), then add a small piece of a pretzel for the stem.

Costumes for the Fairchild Farm Pumpkin Patch

This photo of dresses I made for my daughter Suzanne, otherwise known as Fairchild Farmgirl, reminds me of Amish washday!  These were made for her Pumpkin Patch Festivities that they have on their farm all through the month of October.

" Our haunted trail (not really scary) is featuring "Alice In Halloween Land - A Minnesota Tale" an exciting spin on the original Lewis Carrol classic; "Alice n Wonderland" written in 1887."  Fairchild Farmgirl.
If you are in the Southern Minnesota area, you really need to stop by and have some fun, more information can be found at:

Here are a couple pictures from last year,  it was a hit!

My trusty Mrs. White

Hi -  Now I know this will give you an idea of how old and old fashioned I am, but here goes anyway.
The year I was married, (44 years ago) I decided I needed a sewing machine, although we had hardly any money to buy one.  So I went to the local sewing center to see what I would have to spend, or save up for.
Well - as luck would have it - they had just received a repossesed model, which I was able to afford.  I had to do some more shopping, so I told them I would be back before they closed, and put some money down to hold it.  So I came back later to pick up my prize, and after looking everywhere for it, the salesman found that another person had bought my machine!!!  I just looked at the guy and said "now what?"  Well he didn't know what to tell me - went to find the manager and came back with a new machine - for the same price!  Needless to say, I was quite happy.
Remember, this was 43 years ago and I was quite a bit younger and stronger and could lug this baby around quite easily.  Later, I started going to quilt camps with my sister, and Let me tell you, this little number got heavier and heavier.  Luckily, the camp had young boys there to help carry our stuff, and I made sure to tip them generously (partly to help pay for hernia surgery they may have to get).
I know I should get a new machine, but for some reason - just like my vehicles - I became personally attached to it, and just keep on sewing with it.  We understand each other, and as long as I keep it on my sewing table, which by the way - I got with S&H green stamps, we get along just fine.  Every couple years, I have it gone over, and this kind man who does the work just loves to work on "vintage machines"!!!!  ( I am sure that's what my doctor thinks also).
Anyway, that's the history of me and Mrs. White
